David Bet Halachmi was born in Russia. He Immigrated to Eretz Israel as a young pioneer. Here he married a local girl Rachel Abulafiah.
During World War I he served as an officer in the Ottoman army and was an active member of the underground Nili.
After the war, he went with his family to the United States where he ran a Hebrew school and completed his doctorate. He was active in Jewish educational establishments in Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
On his return to Eretz Israel with his family, he served as a teacher in the Hertzelia High School.
